Are you looking for a way to embrace a deeper spirituality, a bolder discipleship, or more daring justice? Canadian Shield Regional Council needs new people to become Licensed Lay Worship Leaders. Join us for this great opportunity to learn more about our Christian faith and find a rewarding way to serve our church. Rev. Kathy McCallum is offering an in person Licensed Lay Worship Leader Training for those in Canadian Shield Regional Council.

We will begin the course in the fall of 2023 and going to the spring of 2025.  The training would consist of 2 weekends (Friday and Saturday) in person and two weekends on Zoom. We are now accepting registrations for our first in perssion session, being held on November 17 – 19, 2023 at Villa Loyola just outside of Sudbury for our first in-person training session. Canadian Shield Regional Council will be subsidizing this event, so it will only cost you $300 for the weekend.

And now a few words from our instructor, Rev. Kathy McCallum…

Dear Friends,

I am excited to invite you to be part of a journey of discovery, of growing, of learning together.

We will be exploring the Old and New Testaments, their history and context, their authors and characters. We will learn about Church history, and in particular the history of the United Church. Together we will discuss theology, and the development of the Creeds. We will learn to create prayers and worship services. We will discover the joys and challenges of creating sermons that are scripturally based and speak to our context and our faith – and even practice preaching them! And we will do all this together as we build our community of learning and trust. I have also discovered, as I have lead these courses, that much of the growth and discussion happens over coffee and meals!

This LLWL training will prepare you to become a Licensed Lay Worship Leader, and give you the skills and knowledge to lead worship services in the various United Churches of your area – as well as in your own congregations. You will receive a remuneration for the services that you lead. And you will be contributing to the health and welfare of those congregations that you serve as an LLWL.

I hope you will consider joining us on this exciting adventure!

Yours in Christ
Rev. Kathleen McCallum
