Location: Teleworks and works in the Shining Waters’ Guthrie office, north of Barrie

Responsibilities:

As the Accounting Assistant/Bookkeeper, Meranda supports the financial operations of the Canadian Shield and Shining Waters Regional Councils.  She is responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly reconciliations.  Meranda ensures the accuracy of financial records, processes expenses and payments, and assists with preparing financial statements and audit documentation.

Her role includes handling the administration of employee and volunteer expenses, preparing EFT payments, and managing vendor accounts.  Meranda also plays a key part in grant management and reporting, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations.  By maintaining organized financial records and improving processes, she contributes to the financial health of the Regional Councils.

Meranda MacKenzie (she/her) Experience and Biography

Meranda brings over 20 years of experience in bookkeeping and financial management, primarily within not-for-profit organizations.  As a Bookkeeper and Financial Controller, she has worked with various charities, including Craft Ontario, Quest Art School + Gallery, and the YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka where she managed full-cycle accounting, payroll processing, and financial reporting.  Meranda excels in ensuring transparency and efficiency in financial operations that support our organization’s vision and mission-driven initiatives.

Meranda was born and raised in Barrie, and has one adult child, Ariel.  When she is not working, she loves spending time in her vegetable garden or exploring nature with her beloved dog, “Weston”.
