CCS Friday: The Universal/Cosmic Christ

January 20, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The next Center for Christian Studies Friday presentation will be on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 1 pm EST (noon Winnipeg time) when we will have an online discussion of the Universal or Cosmic Christ. According to Wikipedia, the Cosmic Christ is a view of Christology which emphasizes Jesus Christ’s concern for the whole cosmos. Our special guest, Min-Goo Kang, will tell his own story of finding his path to God through the lens of Taoism. Embracing his roots and heritage in this way opened up space to claim his place in Christianity without leaving his culture behind. In this workshop we will have time to explore the importance of our cultural roots and how they influence our practice of faith. We will discuss how the idea of a Cosmic Christ bridges culture and faith. Min-Goo Kang is a United Church minister from Victoria, BC.

CCS Fridays are online conversations offered by the Centre for Christian Studies to help us all to respond faithfully to emerging issues in local contexts. These workshops are open to anyone who might be interested. Each session will be on a Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm EST and in the form of a Zoom workshop. There will be a presentation that will be recorded for future viewing, plus opportunities to engage with the ideas in small groups.

On February 10, Glenn Morison will lead an online discussion on personal stewardship and tithing for the next CCS Friday.
