Position Summary:
ONAPING FALLS PASTORAL CHARGE MISSION STATEMENT
We believe that we are called by God to:
• provide a Christian presence as reflected through the United Church of Canada to serve Onaping Falls and the surrounding communities.
• enable ourselves, our families and members of our faith community at every age and every stage of development to be all that we can be through participation in worship, music, education, pastoral care and fellowship.
• reach out to the community both local and global, regardless of the culture or creed, to work for peace, justice and reconciliation.
The most important aspects of ministry in our Pastoral Charge are:
• Preparing and preaching inspiring sermons which allows the spiritual development of members
• Visiting the sick, shut-in and bereaved
• Pastoral counseling of members having personal, family and/or work related problems

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
we want our minister to be a person who:
-has a strong, yet flexible worship and leadership style
-assists in worship planning with active worship committees
-willingly and faithfully visits the sick, the elderly, shut-ins and the congregation as a whole
-works well with volunteers and other staff
-works to integrate the church music program
-is friendly and compassionate
-brings current life perspective to his/her sermons
-will help us experience, own and tell the Christian story for our lives
-relates well to the children and youth, and works with our Sunday School program
-has strong pastoral skills
-is a caring empathetic listener
-is supportive of each congregation’s vision to be the people of God
