SUMMARY:Retirement of Rev. James Clarke - Sudbury
DESCRIPTION:Reverend James Clarke has served the congregation at Copper Cliff United Church for the past 21 years. \nUnfortunately for us\, James has decided it is his time to retire.  James and Heather are relocating to the Cambridge area where Heather has been working for the last year \nor so.  Considering the times we are in\, it is impossible to organize an event suitable to the occasion. So we have  planned and confirmed a drive by type of event. \nWe invite you to join us. \nDate: Saturday\, 29th May 2021 \nTIme: 2:00 – 3:30 pm \nLocation: Copper Cliff United Church \n26 Park Street\, Copper Cliff \n  \nThe event will deviate some from what we consider normal practice for a drive by\,  we will not be congregating at a meeting point and doing a drive-by. \nBut rather:  Folks are asked to come by the Church between 2 pm and 3:30 pm.  With staggered attendance\, this will give folks a chance to stop and share a few words \nwith James. Thus avoiding any grouping of people\, congestion of traffic and horn honking.  We ask that\, when attending\, folks approach the church from Godfrey drive so that they \ncan stop just in front of the church to share their time with James.  If there is a lineup of traffic on Park Street\, please be patient – drive around the block to wait a few minutes\, giving others their opportunity. \nAnd\, yes we do expect there will be some pedestrian traffic. \n  \nThank you \nDianne Carter on behalf of the \nCopper Cliff United Church Council \n  \nJames is aware of the event.  Should some wish to communicate with James\, his contact information is: \nemail: j47clarke@gmail.com \nHome Phone: 705 682-0232 \nMail: 8 Jones Street\, PO Box 462 \nCopper Cliff\, ON P0M 1N0

SUMMARY:"The Other Side of The River" - United in Learning Event
DESCRIPTION:The Other Side of the River:\nExploring Reconciliation with Alf Dumont\n\nMay 11\,  2021     7:00 pm ET /4:00 pm  PT \nReconciliation is more than an academic or political exercise; it can also be deeply personal. \nAlf Dumont walks between the two worlds of Indigenous and settler\, traditional spirituality and Christianity. In The Other Side of the River\,\, he shares stories of building bridges between these worlds. Dumont challenges the church to re-examine the theology behind its past decisions around residential schools so that it might live out the words of its apologies. He challenges the country to re-examine its responsibilities and relationships with Indigenous people. Through stories\, humour\, poetry\, and insight\, Dumont encourages all people “to sit down together again” and share in a new way. \nClick on the button below to learn more and to register: \nInformation and Registration

SUMMARY:Body Image: Seeing Ourselves Through God’s Eyes
DESCRIPTION:Body Image: Seeing Ourselves Through God’s Eyes\nAs God-made\, incarnate beings\, we all live in bodies. And\, because we all live in bodies\, we all have a body image. Body image is how we see our bodies when we look in the mirror\, or conceive of our bodies in our minds. It is what we believe about our own appearance; how we feel about our bodies\, including our height\, shape\, and weight; how we physically experience our bodies.\nBeginning at a very young age\, and continuing throughout our lives\, many of us internalize messages that lead to either positive or negative body images. Developing a positive\, joyful body image—grounded in gratitude for the body as gift—is an important part of mental and spiritual well-being.\nMILC and Soul Strong (https://soulstrong.godaddysites.com/) are excited to be joining forces to facilitate a two-part\, interactive Zoom forum entitled Body Image: Seeing Ourselves Through God’s Eyes.\nInspired by the extraordinary stories of speakers Wendy Coates and Rita O’Link\, participants will share and explore their own joys and struggles on the journey to body acceptance.\nPlease join us on Tuesday\, April 20th and 27th @ 6:30pm \nTo register visit MILC’s website http://www.manitoulearningcommunity.com/ and click Register in the event information\,\nOr go directly to the registration page https://laurentian.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJcrf–upzIoGtf1ZVMeAqoCbHwOsfhQdGvN\nFor more information email manitouintentionallearning@gmail.com
