SUMMARY:VST - Save the Date - January 30\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:For years\, the Vancouver School of Theology has been organizing VST SUNDAY – a day where students\, faculty\, staff and alumni all head out into the worshipping communities and share in worship. VST folks blend into the church service as clergy wish – a faculty member may preach\, a student may offer a prayer\, and during pre-pandemic times the VST person would stand at a table with VST Swag during coffee time to chat about the school and give away pens! \nThe Pandemic has given us the opportunity to share pre-recorded options (faculty and student sermons\, student testimonials and prayers) and do live zoom! \nPlease let me know if you’re interested and we can talk about how something might work. \nRev. SUMMARY:CCS Friday - Transgressive Devotion
DESCRIPTION:Join an online conversation with Natalie Wigg-Stevenson on her new book “Transgressive Devotion: Theology as Performance Art.” Natalie teaches theology at Emmanuel College. In Transgressive Devotion she argues that theology done as performance art stops trying to describe who God is\, and starts trying to make God appear. \nCCS Fridays are hosted by the Centre for Christian Studies\, to help us all respond faithfully to emerging issues in local contexts. These are in the form of workshops and are open to anyone who might be interested. There will be a presentation that will be recorded for future viewing\, plus opportunities to engage with the ideas in small groups. \nYou must register to participate at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYqd-6vqDopE9zwGGJVthDNuSnjvbUXTciz\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting.

SUMMARY:Body Image: Seeing Ourselves Through God’s Eyes
DESCRIPTION:Body Image: Seeing Ourselves Through God’s Eyes\nAs God-made\, incarnate beings\, we all live in bodies. And\, because we all live in bodies\, we all have a body image. Body image is how we see our bodies when we look in the mirror\, or conceive of our bodies in our minds. It is what we believe about our own appearance; how we feel about our bodies\, including our height\, shape\, and weight; how we physically experience our bodies.\nBeginning at a very young age\, and continuing throughout our lives\, many of us internalize messages that lead to either positive or negative body images. Developing a positive\, joyful body image—grounded in gratitude for the body as gift—is an important part of mental and spiritual well-being.\nMILC and Soul Strong (https://soulstrong.godaddysites.com/) are excited to be joining forces to facilitate a two-part\, interactive Zoom forum entitled Body Image: Seeing Ourselves Through God’s Eyes.\nInspired by the extraordinary stories of speakers Wendy Coates and Rita O’Link\, participants will share and explore their own joys and struggles on the journey to body acceptance.\nPlease join us on Tuesday\, April 20th and 27th @ 6:30pm \nTo register visit MILC’s website http://www.manitoulearningcommunity.com/ and click Register in the event information\,\nOr go directly to the registration page https://laurentian.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJcrf–upzIoGtf1ZVMeAqoCbHwOsfhQdGvN\nFor more information email manitouintentionallearning@gmail.com
